INAUGURATION!
On Monday, April 6, 2009, we had the honor to inaugurate
the new Hanne Seebass Interpretative Visitor Center, thanks
to the support of our friend Hanne Seebass, of Germany. The
new museum will allow us to continue the work of educating school
groups and visitors about the ecological restoration process
that has occured in the garden, through the medium of the hundreds
of photos of insects collected through the years. The visitor
center includes an exhibit of rare and fine hardwood species
of the Ecuadorian Amazon that are planted in the garden, as
well as artesenia from the Waorani and Kichwa culture and many postcards
of the garden.
The new musuem provides visitors with the opportunity to observe the process of restoration over a course of 30 years, while at the same time providing a space for study and classification of our flora and fauna.
